Food For Thought?
Ever wondered how our feed affects us?
Every now and then...
...it can get a bit much out there in the virtual world...
Seemingly relentlessly, the information “feeds”, from social media scrolls, to marketing messages, to news programmes, fictional stories and real experiences are all telling us what to make of it all.
Do you happen to know where the word news “feed” comes from? Is it derived from animal feed or human food, or something else entirely?
Anyway, to me it feels like some sort of feeding but of what sort?
And if we are what we eat, are we also what we ingest through the media and other sources?
And if so, would we want to be more mindful of what we take in and how it affects us, just like with the food we eat?
Do we choose something nourishing or diminishing?
Is our body able to digest and process it or is it getting stuck in our system and festering?
Are we over-eating or starving?
Or have we found a healthily balanced menu?
So many questions for a Sunday morning ponder...herbal tea anyone? ;)
Prompts to Ponder:
Think of one recent post, headline, announcement or conversation.
How did you feel after taking in that piece of information?
How did your body react to it?
What did your mind want to do with that information?
You might want to take a moment to reflect on these questions:
How does your social media feed make you feel?
How about the news you maybe watch or read?
The conversations you have with friends or colleagues?
The chit chat about the weather and the state of the world?
A penny, or two, for your thoughts?
Share your thoughts with me in the comments to start the conversation.

I was thinking about this just the other day ... I think it's easy to assume that we are 'in control', i.e. we won't be adversely affected if we watch/take in lots of online stuff. But it cannot but have an effect on us. And I speak as someone of 'a certain age', I can't imagine how difficult it is for young people.
Just the word food makes me hungry 🤣
Good points social media can definitely feed us garbage with some delicious delicacies x
